LPG Shortage: New LPG rule, now gas cylinder will not be delivered without DAC code

The war between Iran and the United States is causing a shortage of LPG gas in India. India relies on imports to meet its LPG needs. 90% of this import comes from Gulf countries. The Iran-US war disrupted this supply chain, leaving the country facing an LPG crisis. To address the shortage, the government amended several rules related to LPG cylinders.

Now these rules have changed.
The government has changed everything from cylinder prices to booking rules. Now another rule has been changed; the government has said that cylinders without DAC numbers will not be delivered. According to Sujata Sharma, Joint Secretary of the Petroleum Ministry, 92 percent of domestic gas connections have been linked to the DAC system. She also said that due to the system, the supply of domestic cylinders has been made transparent and hassle-free, without any fraud.

What is the DAC system?
A new system related to LPG gas cylinders has been implemented, which is being called DAC number. This has been made mandatory for the delivery of cylinders. Gas companies have introduced the Delivery Authentication Code system to make delivery more secure and prevent black marketing. When you book a gas cylinder, a code is sent to your registered mobile number by the gas company. You are required to provide this code at the time of delivery; otherwise the delivery agent will refuse to give you the cylinder.
