The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is set to honour several Indian cricket stars at its annual BCCI Naman Awards, scheduled to take place on March 15 in New Delhi. The ceremony will celebrate the outstanding performances of players, coaches, and officials from the previous year.
This year’s awards hold special significance as the India national cricket team recently clinched the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 title under the leadership of Suryakumar Yadav.
Shubman Gill to Be Named Cricketer of the Year
According to reports, India’s Test and ODI captain Shubman Gill will receive the Cricketer of the Year award for his remarkable performances during the past season.
Gill delivered an impressive run across formats, scoring 1,764 runs in 42 innings with an average of nearly 49. His tally included seven centuries and three half-centuries. One of his most memorable achievements came during India’s tour of England, where he scored 754 runs in a single series, including four centuries, after taking over the captaincy.
He also played a key role in India’s ICC Champions Trophy triumph, contributing with a crucial century.
Rahul Dravid to Receive Lifetime Achievement Award
Legendary former captain and coach Rahul Dravid will be honoured with the prestigious C. K. Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award.
Dravid remains India’s second-highest run-scorer in Test cricket and has made significant contributions to Indian cricket both as a player and coach. During his tenure as head coach, India ended an 11-year wait for the T20 World Cup title in 2024. He also guided the national Under-19 team to victory in the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup in 2018.
Young Star Ayush Mhatre to Be Recognised
Young cricketer Ayush Mhatre, captain of India’s Under-19 World Cup-winning side, will also be honoured at the ceremony. He is set to receive the Best Domestic All-Rounder award for his impressive performances in domestic cricket during the previous season.
Special Recognition for Team India
The Board of Control for Cricket in India is also expected to honour members of the India national cricket team for their historic ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 triumph, celebrating another major achievement in the country’s cricketing history.
