The BCCI has released the schedule for the first 20 matches of the Indian Premier League 2026. The first match will be played between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad. The first match of IPL 2026 will be played at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The schedule for the remaining matches will be released later. The BCCI will decide on the future schedule based on the dates of the upcoming assembly elections in Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, and Assam.

From the Chennai Super Kings to the Lucknow Super Giants, several other teams have already begun preparations for IPL 2026, and players are working hard in training camps. Royal Challengers Bangalore will play as the defending champions, opening their match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on March 28th.

Matches will be played in these 10 grounds

This first phase schedule will feature a total of 20 matches across 10 venues: Bengaluru, Mumbai, Guwahati, New Chandigarh, Lucknow, Kolkata, Chennai, Delhi, Ahmedabad, and Hyderabad.

Additionally, the Royal Challengers Bangalore will play five of its home matches at the Chinnaswamy Stadium and two in Raipur. The crisis surrounding matches at Bengaluru's M. Chinnaswamy Stadium remains unresolved. Last year, after an RCB victory, a stampede outside the stadium claimed 11 lives. Matches in Bengaluru will only be possible if approval is granted by an expert committee formed by the Karnataka government.
