India’s Global Energy Role Expanding: PM Modi Highlights Investment and Innovation at Goa India Energy Week 2026

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing the India Energy Week (IEW) 2026 virtually from Goa, underlined India’s growing influence in the global energy sector and called for greater investment, innovation, and technological advancement to strengthen energy security and accelerate the clean energy transition.
The Prime Minister said India is firmly committed to speeding up its energy transition by leveraging investment, innovation, and advanced technologies, while also expanding cooperation with global partners. He stressed that sustainable and secure energy systems are critical not only for India’s growth but also for global economic stability.
India Energy Week Emerges as Global Platform
Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Hardeep Singh Puri, who addressed the inaugural session, said that India Energy Week has evolved into a key international platform for policy dialogue, investment opportunities, and technical collaboration. He noted that India now plays a vital role in shaping the global energy transition and promoting balanced, inclusive solutions.
Strong International Participation
The inauguration ceremony, held at Betul village in South Goa, witnessed the presence of senior global leaders, including Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, and Tim Hodgson, Canada’s Minister of Energy and Natural Resources. Ministers and representatives from Africa, the Middle East, Central Asia, and the Global South also attended the event.
Focus on Energy Security and Decarbonisation
India Energy Week 2026 is centered on strengthening energy security, boosting global investment, and developing practical and scalable decarbonisation solutions that can be adopted across diverse economies. The conference reflects India’s expanding role in global energy diplomacy, with participation from delegations across the Americas, Europe, Asia-Pacific, Africa, and the Middle East.
Participation from Over 120 Countries
According to the organizers, more than 75,000 energy professionals from over 120 countries are expected to attend the four-day event. The programme includes ministerial roundtables, CEO-level discussions, public-private partnerships, technology exhibitions featuring energy companies and startups, as well as extensive networking and media engagements.
India Energy Week 2026 reinforces India’s position as a key driver of the global energy transition, combining growth, sustainability, and international cooperation.
