Clashes Erupt in Patna as BJP and Congress Workers Attack Each Other Over Remarks on PM Modi

Patna witnessed major unrest on Friday as BJP and Congress workers clashed violently over indecent remarks made against Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the Mahagathbandhan’s Voter Rights Yatra in Bihar. The confrontation turned ugly outside the Congress office at Sadakat Ashram, where both sides pelted stones at each other, leaving several injured, including workers who suffered head injuries. The situation escalated to such an extent that the police had to intervene with pistols drawn to control the chaos.

Congress leaders alleged that BJP workers broke open the gates of the Congress office and entered the premises before launching a stone-pelting attack. Several vehicles parked inside the office premises were also damaged. The BJP, on the other hand, was staging a protest march against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, raising slogans and accusing him of disrespecting the Prime Minister.

The clash soon spiraled out of control as the workers began attacking each other with sticks and stones. According to Congress leaders, several party workers were injured, with many sustaining serious head wounds. Sharing images from the incident, Bihar Congress accused the ruling BJP of spreading “goondaraj” in the state, calling the attack a “shameful blot on democracy.” The party further alleged that the police remained passive during the violence, almost as if they were “monitoring the attack” instead of stopping it.

The Congress claimed the violence was a result of the success of its Voter Rights Yatra led by Rahul Gandhi and the BJP’s frustration over losing political ground in Bihar. The party has demanded immediate action against those responsible and warned that it would give a strong response if justice is denied.

Meanwhile, DSP Law and Order Krishna Murari Prasad confirmed that there had been stone pelting and said the matter is under investigation. He assured that appropriate legal action would be taken for any damage to property. The police, he added, acted swiftly upon receiving information and alerted nearby stations to contain the violence.

The spark for the unrest came from a recent public meeting in Darbhanga, where a youth named Rafiq allegedly made indecent remarks about PM Modi during the Mahagathbandhan’s Voter Rights Yatra. The individual has since been arrested, and the event organizer has apologized. Despite this, BJP workers staged a strong protest in Patna, which eventually spiraled into Friday’s violent clash.
