Ranveer Singh's 'Dhurandhar 2' in Controversy: Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh's film 'Dhurandhar 2' has once again found itself embroiled in controversy. After a poster from the film went viral on social media, members of the Sikh community strongly objected. The matter escalated when a written complaint was filed at the Mulund Police Station in Mumbai
Allegations of insulting religious symbols
Sardar Gurjyot Singh, president of the Sikhs in Maharashtra organization, filed the complaint. According to the complaint, the viral poster depicts a character wearing traditional Sikh attire and a turban (dastar) smoking a cigarette. The organization argues that this depiction is against Sikh religious principles and insults Guru Gobind Singh and the entire community.
The complainant has demanded that the police take the matter seriously and immediately stop the circulation of the controversial poster. He has also demanded a ban on the film's release until legal action is taken against the director, producer, and lead actor.
Claims to be an AI-generated poster
As the controversy escalated on social media, many internet users and experts clarified that the poster was not official. Initial investigations and social media analysis indicated that the poster was created by a fan using artificial intelligence (AI).
According to reports, the film does not include a song titled "Pralaya," which was being referenced in the controversial poster. Paramjit Singh Sarna, former president of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee, also criticized the poster, although it later emerged that he was unaware it was AI-generated.
Sikh decorum and tobacco prohibition
Tobacco consumption is considered a "bajjar kurat" (serious violation) in Sikhism. Paramjit Singh Sarna wrote in his post that the turban is a sacred symbol of the Sikh faith and that such depiction misrepresents Sikh identity globally. He urged authorities to take cognizance of the matter and make corrections.
Waiting for the response of the filmmakers
At present, no official statement has been issued by the producers of "Dhurandhar: The Revenge" or Ranveer Singh's team regarding this controversy. Film industry experts say that in the age of AI, fake posters like these are often causing trouble for actors and production houses.
