Patanjali founder Swami Ramdev believes that good health is achievable at any age through Ayurveda and regular yoga practice. According to him, seasonal care is especially important in winter, when cold weather weakens immunity and increases the risk of coughs, colds, and flu. Simply wearing warm clothes is not enough—the body must be warmed from within.
In one of his videos, Baba Ramdev shared several simple Ayurvedic remedies and yogic practices that help generate natural body heat, strengthen immunity, and protect against seasonal illnesses. These remedies use everyday kitchen ingredients and breathing techniques—no medicines or expensive products required.
Here are 10 effective winter remedies recommended by Baba Ramdev to stay warm and healthy naturally:
1. Turmeric and Ginger Water
Drink lukewarm water mixed with turmeric and ginger early in the morning. This combination provides instant internal warmth and helps prevent coughs, colds, and infections.
2. Black Pepper and Almonds
Chew five almonds and five black peppercorns daily. Black pepper boosts immunity, while almonds provide energy and help the body fight cold-related issues.
3. Turmeric Milk or Honey Water
Consuming turmeric milk or warm water mixed with honey during winter helps maintain body heat and reduces the impact of cold weather.
4. Saffron Remedy
Saffron is known for its warming properties. Baba Ramdev advises consuming one or two saffron strands daily to prevent colds and keep the body warm.
5. Pure Ghee Consumption
People with weak immunity or excessive sensitivity to cold should consume pure ghee early in the morning. It strengthens the body internally and improves resilience to cold.
6. Mishri, Almonds, and Black Pepper Mix
Chew a mixture of 100 grams almonds, 20 grams black pepper, and mishri (rock sugar) in the morning. This boosts energy, provides warmth, and helps prevent chills throughout the day.
7. Deep Breathing
Taking slow, deep breaths increases oxygen flow in the body, which naturally generates heat and keeps the body warm from within.
8. Power Yoga and Surya Namaskar
Daily physical activity is essential in winter. Baba Ramdev recommends power yoga, sit-ups, and Surya Namaskar to quickly generate heat, improve flexibility, and strengthen muscles.
9. Bhastrika Pranayama
Practicing Bhastrika Pranayama for five minutes daily helps warm the body, strengthen the lungs, and maintain a healthy respiratory system.
10. Kapalabhati and Anulom-Vilom
Swami Ramdev advises practicing Kapalabhati and Anulom-Vilom for five minutes each day. These pranayamas boost immunity, improve digestion, and protect against winter illnesses. He also recommends eating gond laddus, jaggery, and blowing a conch shell in the morning for added benefits.
