This Actor Slept on Rajinikanth’s Bed, ‘Thalaiva’ Took the Floor!

Even after a cinema career spanning 50 years, Rajinikanth, one of South Indian cinema's biggest icons, is known for his humility and grounded nature. Having grown up witnessing poverty and working odd jobs before entering films, Rajinikanth’s simplicity has been a hallmark of his life.

An anecdote from the set of his 1991 film “Thalapathi” perfectly illustrates this. Malayalam superstar Mammootty also starred in the film, and a young Arvind Swamy made his acting debut alongside Rajinikanth.

The Bed Incident

In a recent interview, Arvind Swamy recounted a funny and humbling incident from the shoot:

“I was new to everything, didn’t know the rules or the protocols. One day, I arrived early for shooting and was exhausted. I found a bed and fell asleep on it.”

When Rajinikanth entered the room, he saw Arvind asleep on the bed. Instead of waking him, Rajinikanth chose to sleep on the floor, letting the newcomer continue resting comfortably. Arvind later said he was amazed to see a superstar like Rajinikanth sleeping on the ground just to maintain courtesy.

“I woke up and saw Rajini sir sleeping on the floor in the same room. I went into his room and slept on the bed. It was incredible to witness such humility firsthand,” Arvind recalled.

This simple gesture is just one example of why Rajinikanth is adored not only for his powerful acting but also for his warm and unpretentious personality.
