Salman Khan portrays the legendary Jiva Mahala, the fiercely loyal bodyguard of Shivaji Maharaj. From 'Lai Bhaari' to 'Raja Shivaji': A History of Collaboration
The bond between Riteish Deshmukh and Salman Khan is well-known in Bollywood. During a recent promotional interview, Riteish reflected on their effortless professional chemistry. He recalled how Salman previously joined the cast of Lai Bhaari and Ved with almost no hesitation, often asking only for the shoot duration before saying "Yes."
However, for "Raja Shivaji," the roles were reversed—Riteish didn't even have to ask.
How Salman Khan "Forced" His Way Into the Film
Riteish revealed that Salman’s involvement was born out of his own insistence during a New Year’s gathering.
"We were together on New Year's Day, and he asked when I was starting the shoot. When I told him it was starting this month, he immediately said, 'You can't make this film without me. I have to be in it,'" Riteish shared.
Riteish admitted he hadn't even finalized a role for Salman at that point, but the superstar was adamant. Salman's passion for the project and his deep respect for the historical subject matter meant he wasn't going to let this film pass him by. Eventually, the pivotal role of Jiva Mahala was locked in, much to the delight of fans.
With such a significant historical role played by one of India's biggest stars, "Raja Shivaji" is poised to be more than just a movie—it’s shaping up to be a cultural event.
