The much-awaited Mirzapur: The Movie is all set to bring the popular OTT franchise to the big screen. The film is scheduled to release on September 4 and has already received an A certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).

However, the certification process reportedly came with several changes. According to reports, the CBFC asked the makers to modify multiple dialogues and cut portions of intimate scenes before granting the film its certificate.

Several Dialogues Had to Be Modified

The CBFC reportedly ordered objectionable words to be muted at four different points in the film. In six other instances, the makers were asked to replace certain abusive expressions with alternative words.

A dialogue containing the phrase "gale laga kar" was also reportedly modified. Additionally, a word used during the first half of the film was changed to "waist", according to a report by Bollywood Hungama.

A reference related to caste was also reportedly altered during the certification process.

35 Seconds of Intimate Content Removed

The visual edits were reportedly focused on intimate sequences.

According to the reported CBFC recommendations, the duration of intimate scenes in two portions of the movie—one in the first half and another in the second half—was reduced by 50%.

After implementing the changes, approximately 35 seconds of intimate content was removed from the final version.

Violence Remains Untouched

Interestingly, the reported cuts were focused on language and intimate content rather than the film's violent sequences.

The CBFC reportedly did not ask the makers to remove scenes involving bloodshed or violence. As a result, the intense action and violent portions of the film are expected to remain part of the theatrical release.

Following the required modifications, the movie received its certification. The certified runtime is reportedly 197 minutes and 19 seconds, which translates to approximately 3 hours, 17 minutes and 19 seconds.

Familiar Faces and New Additions

Directed by Gurmeet Singh, Mirzapur: The Movie is produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani under the Excel Entertainment banner.

Several actors associated with the original series are returning for the theatrical adaptation, including Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, Divyenndu, Abhishek Banerjee, Rasika Dugal, Shweta Tripathi, Shriya Pilgaonkar, Harshita Gaur, Sheeba Chaddha, Rajesh Tailang, Anangsha Biswas and Shaji Choudhary.

The film also expands the cast with names such as Ravi Kishan, Sushant Singh, Sonal Chauhan and Jitendra Kumar, who is reportedly taking on the role previously played by Vikrant Massey.

Fans Will Finally See Mirzapur on the Big Screen

After building a massive following through its web-series run, Mirzapur is now making the transition to cinemas. The reported CBFC edits have added another layer of curiosity around the film, particularly because the franchise is known for its strong language, violence and mature themes.

With an A certificate and a runtime of more than three hours, Mirzapur: The Movie is preparing to bring the franchise's familiar characters, conflicts and high-intensity drama to theatres on September 4.
