Yuvraj Singh and Robin Uthappa Summoned by ED in Online Betting App Case

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has intensified its probe into online betting platforms and summoned two former Indian cricketers, Yuvraj Singh and Robin Uthappa, in connection with the case. According to sources, Uthappa has been called for questioning on 22 September, while Yuvraj Singh will appear before the agency on 23 September at the ED headquarters in Delhi. Actor Sonu Sood has also been summoned on 23 September.

Part of 1xBet investigation
The questioning of Yuvraj and Uthappa is linked to alleged violations involving the betting platform 1xBet. The ED is probing whether these celebrities had commercial agreements with the company and if payments made to them involved possible money laundering or tax evasion. Both cricketers are expected to be asked about the nature of their contracts, financial dealings, and promotional activities for the platform.

Others summoned before
Yuvraj and Uthappa are not the first cricketers to come under ED’s scanner in this case. Earlier, Suresh Raina and Shikhar Dhawan were also questioned about their association with 1xBet. The investigation is being carried out under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

Why 1xBet is under scrutiny
1xBet, which claims to have 18 years of experience as a global bookmaker and operates in more than 70 languages, is facing allegations of massive financial fraud and tax evasion running into crores of rupees. The ED is examining whether promotional tie-ups with celebrities helped the platform expand its illegal betting operations in India.
