PNB Reduces ATM Withdrawal Limit on Select Debit Cards from April 1, 2026: Check New Limits and Affected Cards

Punjab National Bank Cuts ATM Withdrawal Limits for Certain Debit Cards

Punjab National Bank (PNB) has announced a revision in the daily ATM cash withdrawal limits for several debit cards, a move aimed at improving customer security and strengthening risk management systems.

According to the bank’s latest update, the revised limits will come into effect from April 1, 2026. The change will apply only to specific debit cards, while other cards will continue to operate with their existing withdrawal limits.

PNB stated that the decision is part of its broader strategy to enhance fraud prevention measures and improve financial security for customers.

ATM Withdrawal Limit Reduced for Some Debit Cards

Earlier, certain PNB debit cards allowed customers to withdraw up to ₹1 lakh per day from ATMs. Under the new rules, the maximum daily withdrawal limit for these cards has been reduced to ₹50,000.

Similarly, debit cards that previously allowed daily withdrawals of ₹1.5 lakh will now have a revised limit of ₹75,000 per day.

This adjustment aims to minimize financial losses in case of unauthorized transactions or ATM-related fraud.

Debit Cards with New ₹50,000 Daily Withdrawal Limit

Customers holding the following debit cards will now be able to withdraw a maximum of ₹50,000 per day from ATMs:

  • RuPay NCMC Platinum Domestic Debit Card

  • RuPay NCMC Platinum International Debit Card

  • RuPay Women Power Platinum Debit Card

  • RuPay PNB Palaash Debit Card (Recycled PVC)

  • RuPay Business Platinum NCMC Debit Card

  • MasterCard Platinum Debit Card

  • Visa Gold Debit Card

  • PNB MasterCard Platinum Rise Debit Card

Customers using these cards should take note of the revised limit before the new rule becomes effective.

Debit Cards with Revised ₹75,000 Daily Withdrawal Limit

For some premium debit cards, the daily withdrawal limit has been adjusted to ₹75,000.

These include:

  • RuPay Select Debit Card

  • PNB RuPay Select Neo

  • PNB RuPay Select Excel

  • Visa Signature Debit Card

  • MasterCard Business Debit Card

These cards previously allowed higher withdrawal limits but will now operate with the revised daily cap.

PNB customers can easily modify or manage their debit card withdrawal limits using internet banking or the PNBOne mobile banking application.

Steps to Update Debit Card Limit

  1. Log in to PNB Internet Banking.

  2. Go to Value Added Services.

  3. Select Debit Card Personalisation.

  4. Choose the account number and required service.

  5. Enter the card number, expiry date, and PIN.

  6. Enter the new withdrawal limit and click Update.

  7. Confirm the request using the OTP sent to your registered mobile number.

This process allows customers to customize limits according to their transaction needs while maintaining security.

Other Cards and Payment Modes Remain Unaffected

PNB has clarified that debit cards not included in the revised list will continue to operate with their existing ATM withdrawal limits.

The bank also confirmed that the new rule will not impact other types of transactions, including:

  • POS (Point of Sale) payments

  • Online or e-commerce transactions

  • Contactless payments

These payment methods will continue to function under the same limits currently in place.

Why Banks Revise ATM Withdrawal Limits

Banks periodically update ATM withdrawal limits as part of their risk management and fraud prevention strategies.

Lower ATM withdrawal limits can help reduce potential financial losses in cases of:

  • Stolen debit cards

  • ATM skimming fraud

  • Unauthorized transactions

By limiting the amount that can be withdrawn in a single day, banks aim to provide greater protection for customers' funds.

What PNB Customers Should Do

PNB customers are advised to check the debit card category they use and understand the new withdrawal limits before April 1, 2026.

Those who frequently withdraw large amounts from ATMs may consider planning transactions accordingly or using alternative digital payment methods such as online banking or UPI.

The revised policy reflects PNB’s effort to maintain a balance between customer convenience and financial security.
