Has your PM Surya Ghar Yojana subsidy been rejected or pending? Learn about 13 key reasons related to name mismatch, ALMM panel, vendor, and sanctioned load, and easy steps to correct them online.
Subsidies under the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Free Bijli Yojana (PMGSY) are often held up or rejected due to minor paperwork errors or technical glitches. According to Tata Power's website, millions of people have applied for this ambitious central government scheme, but due to the strict scrutiny of power distribution companies (DISCOMs) and the national portal, many applications are not approved. If your application has been rejected, there's no need to panic. Most of the reasons can be easily corrected and resubmitted.
1. Non-compliance with vendor and solar panel regulations
Installation by a non-empanelled vendor: If you install your solar system from a local vendor other than an authorised vendor registered on the MNRE or your DISCOM portal, the subsidy will not be released. Always choose a vendor registered on the official portal.
Panels not on the ALMM list: Only solar models and DCR (Made in India) panels listed on the government's ALMM (Approved List of Models and Manufacturers) list are eligible under the scheme. If the vendor has installed cheap or non-certified panels, the report will be rejected.
2. Mismatch between document and name
Name differences: The name spelling (letter-by-letter) on your Aadhaar card, electricity bill, and bank passbook must be exactly the same. Even slight variations in spelling or a missing surname may result in rejection of your application.
Incorrect consumer number and IFSC code: Entering the meter number instead of the consumer account number listed on the electricity bill invalidates the system. Similarly, entering an incorrect or outdated IFSC code for your bank account can cause subsidy transfer (DBT) to fail.
Unclear or incomplete photographs: While uploading the commissioning report, uploading photographs of a blurred ceiling, photographs of panels without serial numbers or incomplete documents will result in the inspection team putting the application on hold.
3. Connection and sanctioned load deficiencies
Solar system larger than the sanctioned load: If the sanctioned load on your electricity bill is 2 kW and you have installed a 5 kW solar plant, the feasibility report of the DISCOM will be rejected.
Old outstanding bills: If you have any outstanding bills on your electricity connection, the DISCOM will not clear the feasibility. It is mandatory to pay the full outstanding amount before applying.
Wrong Connection Category: This plan is only for residential/domestic customers. If your connection is listed in the commercial or agricultural category, your application will be rejected.
4.Reasons related to bank account and property ownership
Lack of Aadhaar Seeding (DBT): Your bank account must be linked to your Aadhaar and activated on NPCI Mapper for Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
Joint property and application without NOC: If the house is in the name of more than one person (Joint Property) or is ancestral, the ownership check fails if the No Objection Certificate (NOC) of other co-owners is not uploaded.
Multiple connections at the same address: Only one subsidy is valid for a family or household. Multiple connections at the same address are flagged as duplicate applications.
