New Aadhaar App Full Version Launched: 10 Important Things You Must Know

UIDAI has officially rolled out the full version of the new Aadhaar App for users across India. Available on Android and iOS, the app is designed to make Aadhaar services simpler, safer, and completely mobile-based. With this update, many tasks that earlier required visiting Aadhaar centers can now be done directly from your phone.

Here are 10 key things you need to know about the new Aadhaar App and how it benefits common users:

1. Mobile-first Aadhaar services

The new Aadhaar App is part of UIDAI’s Mobile First strategy. While the app was introduced in November 2025 with limited features, the full version now brings most Aadhaar services onto a single platform, designed to be easy even for first-time users.

2. Easy mobile number update

One of the biggest upgrades is the ability to update your Aadhaar-linked mobile number directly from the app. A dedicated option on the home screen gives quick access to mobile number and address update services—saving visits to Aadhaar centers.

3. Address update from home

Users can now update their Aadhaar address online through the app in many cases, reducing paperwork and long queues.

4. Manage Aadhaar of 5 family members

The app allows you to link Aadhaar details of up to five family members under one account. This makes it especially useful for managing Aadhaar for children and elderly family members.

5. Aadhaar number sharing no longer needed

With offline Aadhaar verification, users can prove their identity without sharing their full Aadhaar number, reducing the risk of data misuse.

6. Selective Share feature

The Selective Share option lets users decide exactly what information to share:

  • Name

  • Photo

  • Age

  • Address

  • Mobile number

You stay in full control of your privacy.

7. QR code-based instant verification

The app generates a QR code that can be scanned at authorized locations like hotels, offices, or service centers for quick identity verification, avoiding lengthy manual processes.

8. Biometric lock for extra security

UIDAI has strengthened security with a biometric lock feature, allowing users to lock:

  • Fingerprints

  • Face data

  • Iris data

This significantly reduces the risk of biometric misuse and can be unlocked anytime from the app.

9. View Aadhaar authentication history

Users can now check past Aadhaar authentication records, helping them track when and where their Aadhaar was used.

10. Available in 13 Indian languages

To make Aadhaar services accessible to everyone, the app supports 13 Indian languages, making it especially helpful for rural users and non-English speakers.
