As monsoon activity intensifies, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued weather warnings for several areas across the country. Heavy rain, thunderstorms, strong winds, and lightning are expected in the coming days in several eastern states, including Bihar, Jharkhand, and Odisha.
Heavy rain and storm alert for eastern India
Widespread rainfall is expected in Bihar, with some areas potentially experiencing heavy downpours. Strong winds with speeds of up to 50-60 kmph and lightning are also expected. Similar weather is expected in Jharkhand and Odisha, where thunderstorms and strong winds may disrupt daily activities. Officials have advised farmers and those working outdoors to exercise caution during the inclement weather.
Delhi-NCR likely to get relief from heat
Weather conditions are expected to improve in Delhi-NCR, with temperatures expected to drop by 3-4 degrees Celsius over the next 24 hours. Many parts of the national capital will remain cloudy, with light rain and drizzle possible. Thunderstorms with winds of 40-50 kmph are also expected in Delhi, Haryana, and Punjab, bringing relief from the recent intense heat, although humidity levels may remain high.
Rain forecast in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand
Many parts of eastern Uttar Pradesh may experience light to moderate rain, accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds. Meteorologists expect monsoon activity to strengthen over the region over the next few days. However, above-normal temperatures and heatwave conditions may persist in some eastern districts.
In Uttarakhand, several districts are expected to experience rain and thunderstorm activity. Strong winds and lightning are possible in hilly areas. Pilgrims traveling on the Char Dham Yatra are advised to monitor weather updates closely, as the rain may increase the risk of landslides and rockfalls on mountainous routes.
Danger of dust storm in Rajasthan
Rajasthan could experience some of the worst weather conditions in the country. Strong winds of 60-70 kmph, with gusts reaching 80 kmph, are expected in both eastern and western districts. Dust storms are also expected in parts of western Rajasthan. People have been advised to avoid non-essential outdoor activities and stay in safe places during the storm.
Heatwave continues in Central India
Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, and parts of the Vidarbha region are still experiencing intense heat. The heatwave is expected to continue, with Vidarbha particularly vulnerable. Night temperatures are also expected to remain higher than normal, providing little relief after sunset. The elderly, children, and those with underlying health conditions are urged to exercise increased caution.
Heavy rain continues on the West Coast
Monsoon conditions remain active in the Konkan-Goa region, coastal Karnataka, and Kerala. Heavy rain warnings have been issued, with the potential for flooding in low-lying areas. Thunderstorms and thunderstorms are also expected in Central Maharashtra and Marathwada. Weather experts believe temperatures will gradually decrease across Maharashtra after June 22nd.
Heavy rain alert in southern states
Heavy rainfall is expected over the next 24 hours in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, and Lakshadweep. Heavy rainfall accompanied by strong winds is likely in some areas of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Rough sea conditions and high waves are also possible along the coasts of Kerala, Karnataka, and Lakshadweep.
Advisory issued for fishermen
Strong winds of 45 to 55 kmph are expected in many parts of the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal. The Meteorological Department has advised fishermen along the coasts of Gujarat, Konkan-Goa, Kerala, Lakshadweep, Odisha, and West Bengal not to venture into the sea until conditions improve.
