Vietnamese electric vehicle maker VinFast has made a major announcement aimed at boosting the adoption of electric mobility. The company said it will extend its free charging service for electric vehicle owners until March 31, 2029 in several Asian markets.
The offer will be available to customers in India, Indonesia, and Philippines, making it one of the most aggressive EV adoption strategies in the region.
Free charging for new and existing customers
According to the company, all VinFast electric vehicle owners in these countries will be able to charge their cars free of cost at the company’s charging network, known as V-Green charging stations.
The benefit will not only apply to new buyers but also to existing customers who already own VinFast EVs. In addition, drivers operating under the company’s mobility platform Green SM will also be eligible for the free charging facility.
By eliminating long-term charging costs, the company aims to make electric vehicles more attractive and affordable compared with petrol and diesel cars.
Extra incentives to switch from petrol vehicles
Along with free charging, VinFast’s parent company Vingroup has launched a special limited-time initiative called “Trade Gas for Electric.”
Under this program:
-
Customers switching from petrol vehicles to electric cars will receive an additional 3% discount on VinFast EVs.
-
Buyers of VinFast electric scooters can get up to 5% discount.
The scheme will run from March 11 to March 31, 2026, and can be combined with other promotional offers.
Discounts on electric taxi rides
The company has also introduced another campaign called “GreenForAll.”
Under this initiative, passengers using the Green SM electric taxi service in Vietnam, Indonesia, and Laos will receive a 10% discount on rides during the promotional period.
Push for green mobility
Duong Thi Thu Trang, Deputy CEO of Global Sales at VinFast, said the company received a strong response to its earlier free-charging policy in Vietnam and international markets.
She added that extending the program for several more years is part of the company’s strategy to accelerate electric vehicle adoption globally.
