The 150–200cc motorcycle segment in India witnessed strong growth in February 2026, driven by rising demand for sporty yet practical bikes. Total sales in this category reached 178,187 units, marking a 32.17% increase compared to 134,819 units in February 2025.
Apache Takes the Top Spot
The TVS Apache series emerged as the best-selling motorcycle in this segment, recording sales of 45,166 units and a year-on-year growth of 19%. It narrowly edged past the Bajaj Pulsar, which stood in second place with 44,750 units but posted a higher growth rate of 49.73%. The close competition between the two highlights the intensity of the segment.
Honda Unicorn secured the third position with 36,317 units sold, registering a growth of 25.53%, and continues to maintain its strong presence in the commuter-premium category.
Why Apache Stands Out
The TVS Apache series has become a preferred choice among young riders due to its blend of sporty design and everyday usability. Designed for those seeking performance along with practicality, the lineup offers multiple options catering to different needs.
Currently, the Apache range includes several models, with prices starting at around ₹95,000 (ex-showroom). The entry-level Apache RTR 160 comes with a 159.7cc engine producing approximately 15.3 bhp, while the flagship Apache RR 310 features a 312.2cc engine delivering around 33 bhp.
Legacy and Evolution
Launched in 2006, the Apache series was introduced as a premium offering to retain and attract performance-focused customers. Initially introduced as a 150cc bike, it evolved into the RTR (Racing Throttle Response) lineup, reflecting TVS’s motorsport heritage.
Over the years, the series has been continuously upgraded, with models like the RTR 160 and RTR 160 4V remaining highly popular in the market.
Growing Demand for Sporty Commuters
The strong performance of the Apache series reflects a broader trend in the Indian two-wheeler market, where buyers—especially younger consumers—are increasingly opting for motorcycles that offer a mix of style, performance, and daily usability.
