Top-Selling Car Brands in India – July 2025: Maruti Leads, Mahindra Overtakes Hyundai for 2nd Spot

The Indian car market saw strong competition in July 2025, with Maruti Suzuki holding on to its top position while Mahindra regained the second spot, edging past Hyundai. Toyota remained steady in the top five, though most brands recorded year-on-year declines in sales.
1. Maruti Suzuki – Still the Market Leader
Maruti Suzuki topped the sales chart with 1.37 lakh units sold in July 2025, almost the same as in July 2024. The Dzire was the company’s star performer, crossing 20,000 units in sales for the month.
2. Mahindra – Strong Comeback in 2nd Place
Mahindra reported 49,871 units sold, marking a healthy 19.8% growth compared to July 2024’s 41,623 units. The Scorpio continued to dominate as the brand’s best-seller with over 13,000 units retailing last month.
3. Hyundai – Drops to Third Position
Hyundai slipped to third place with 43,973 units sold, down 10.3% from 49,013 units a year ago. The Creta remained Hyundai’s best-selling model, contributing over 16,000 units to total sales.
4. Tata Motors – Negative Growth
Tata Motors recorded 39,521 units in July 2025, showing an 11% decline from last year. The Nexon was the top-selling model for Tata, followed by the Punch, although Punch sales saw a steep 33% drop year-on-year.
5. Toyota – Slight Dip but Steady in Top Five
Toyota secured the fifth spot with 29,159 units, a minor decline from 29,533 units in July 2024. The Innova was the brand’s best-seller, followed by the Hyryder, which saw a year-on-year growth, even as Innova sales dipped by 8%.
