The Strait of Hormuz has opened… Iran's Foreign Minister announced, find out what Trump said

Iran has announced the full reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi made the announcement. He stated, "We are opening this passage. Iranian officials will determine the route." Trump has also reacted to Iran's announcement.

The Strait of Hormuz has finally fully opened. Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi announced this. He said that all ships will now be able to pass through Hormuz without any problems. "We made this decision following the ceasefire in Lebanon." Iran had blocked the Strait of Hormuz on March 6th to blunt the US attack. US President Donald Trump has also reacted to Iran's announcement.

"The Strait of Hormuz is fully open, but the naval blockade will remain fully in effect and enforceable only with respect to Iran. It will remain in place until our negotiations with Iran are 100% complete. This process should proceed very quickly, as most of the points have already been negotiated," Trump wrote in a post.

Until then, all ships will be able to pass through Hormuz.

In an earlier post, Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi said, "As long as the temporary ceasefire is in place, all commercial vessels will be able to pass freely through the Strait of Hormuz. All vessels will be able to pass through the coordinated route already announced by the Ports and Maritime Organization of the Islamic Republic of Iran."

Why did Iran decide to open the Strait of Hormuz?

1. US President Donald Trump announced the lifting of the blockade on the Strait of Hormuz two days ago. In an interview, Trump said, "I have spoken with China. We will lift the blockade. Iran has agreed to our proposal regarding Hormuz. China has also agreed to our proposal."

2. Iran was under pressure to open the Strait of Hormuz to extend the ceasefire. The US stated that ceasefire talks would only proceed if Iran did not open the Strait of Hormuz. Reuters, citing sources, reported that Iran and the US had reached an agreement to extend the ceasefire. As part of this effort, the Strait of Hormuz was opened.

3. Iran has been under pressure to open the Strait of Hormuz. A meeting of 40 countries is scheduled in Paris to discuss the opening of the Strait of Hormuz. Leaders of countries like France and Britain will attend this meeting. Iran cannot afford to face the hostility of so many countries at once.

4. Oman recently rejected a proposal to levy tolls. They argued that a natural route could be tolled. This increased pressure on Iran.

Why is Hormuz important to the whole world?

The Strait of Hormuz is a narrow passage between the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman. This passage carries approximately 20 percent of the world's oil supply. Countries like Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Iraq, and Bahrain sell their oil to the world through this passage. Iran controls this 34-kilometer-long passage.
