Rajasthan Budget: What's cheap & what's expensive? Stamp duty hikes make land more expensive, & loan registration fees are halved; see list

Rajasthan Budget 2026: The 3% increase in stamp duty surcharge and new DLC rates in the Rajasthan Budget 2026 have made land and houses more expensive. Farmhouse and resort purchases will also be affected. Loan registration fees have been halved and a 50% tax exemption has been granted on vehicles from other states.

Rajasthan Budget 2026: Rajasthan's Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Diya Kumari presented the full budget for the financial year 2026-27 in the Assembly on Wednesday. In a budget speech lasting approximately 2 hours and 54 minutes, the government attempted to live up to the adage of "making churma without ghee." This meant an attempt was made to assure the public of maximum relief and development at minimal expense. However, the burden on the public's pockets has increased on the real estate and property front.

In the budget , the government has increased the surcharge on the registration of immovable properties by 3% to raise revenue. This will directly impact stamp paper prices. Furthermore, a decision has been made to rationalize DLC (District Level Committee) rates across the state, implementing a uniform rate. Due to these two decisions, registering land or a house in Rajasthan will now be more expensive than before.

Big blow to those who bought farmhouse and resort land

Previously, the rate for agricultural land was 1.5 times the commercial rate, but now it has been increased to 3 times. Previously, the rate for agricultural land was 2 times the commercial rate, but now it has been increased to 75% of the commercial rate.

Relief to borrowers, registration fee halved

While property prices have risen, bank loan borrowers have received significant relief. The registration fee for loan documents has been reduced from 1% to 0.5%, with a maximum limit of ₹1 lakh. Similarly, stamp duty has been reduced from 0.25% to 0.125%, with the maximum cap now set at ₹10 lakh instead of ₹15 lakh.

Tax exemption on vehicles

In the transportation sector, the government has taken a major decision to encourage those bringing private vehicles from other states to Rajasthan. Currently, the motor vehicle tax on registration of vehicles from other states was exempted by 25%, which has now been increased to 50%.

Other major budget announcements

  • Emphasis on welfare for government employees and agricultural infrastructure for farmers.
  • Provision of new budget for expansion of health services and Har Ghar Jal Yojana.
  • Announcement of distribution of 'Magic Box' and sports kits to school children, so that impact can be seen at the grassroots level.

A budget of political acumen

Experts believe this budget strikes a balance between fiscal discipline and populist announcements. The government has focused more on schemes that deliver direct benefits to the public through administrative reforms and minimize pressure on the public treasury.
