Fear and uncertainty continue to grip Bollywood as threats against film industry personalities show no signs of slowing down. Over the past few months, several prominent celebrities—including Salman Khan, Kapil Sharma, B Praak and Disha Patani—have reportedly received threatening calls or messages. In some cases, firing incidents have also been reported near their residences.
Most recently, filmmaker Rohit Shetty and actor Ranveer Singh have allegedly received fresh threatening voice notes, escalating concerns within the film fraternity. According to reports, the latest threats include warnings of harm not only to the celebrities but also to members of their staff.
IMPPA Writes to CM Devendra Fadnavis
Taking serious note of the situation, the Indian Motion Picture Producers Association (IMPPA) has written a formal letter to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, urging the state government to ensure the safety of film industry professionals.
In its letter, IMPPA described the firing incident outside Rohit Shetty’s residence as extremely serious, stating that it has created an atmosphere of fear across the entertainment industry. The association has demanded strict action, enhanced security, and a transparent investigation into the matter.
Demand for Protection of the Film Industry
The letter further emphasized that Rohit Shetty is a highly respected figure in Indian cinema who has consistently contributed to society through his work. IMPPA stated that any threat to him or his family is a matter of grave concern and requires immediate intervention from law enforcement agencies.
The association has appealed to the Maharashtra government to take urgent steps to ensure the safety of Rohit Shetty, his family, and all those working in the film and television industry, warning that continued threats could severely impact film shoots and the overall working environment in Mumbai.
