Petrol and Diesel: Find out how many days of petrol and diesel are left in the country. Is the government going to implement a quota?

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has appealed twice in two days to conserve fuel. He is also advising people to work from home and start online classes. Furthermore, he has urged people not to buy gold for the second time. Several senior ministers have also reiterated this appeal. This has sparked a debate about the oil crisis in the country.

Is there a shortage of oil?
If reports are to be believed, amidst speculations of the government imposing quotas, the government has clarified that there is enough fuel in the country. Actually, the world's oil supply has been greatly affected due to the war between Iran and America. Fuel rationing means setting limits on the sale of petrol, diesel or gas by the government. When there is a shortage of oil in the country or the prices rise too much, the government makes rules on how much fuel a person or vehicle will get in a day or month. Its purpose is to stop wastage of fuel and ensure that everyone gets enough oil.

Quotas are fixed for oil.
Just like grains are available on ration cards, quotas are also fixed for oil so that there is no chaos. According to Bhasha, a top official of the Petroleum Ministry said on Monday that there is no plan to ration India's fuel supply i.e. to implement quotas. Petroleum Secretary Neeraj Mittal said at the annual business summit of the Confederation of Indian Industry, "There is no need to panic. There is enough supply."
