LPG Customers Alert: Complete e-KYC Before the New Deadline, Here's How to Do It Online

If you use a domestic LPG connection, there is an important update you should know about. Oil marketing companies have been asking eligible LPG consumers to complete Aadhaar-based e-KYC, and the deadline has been extended amid initial difficulties with the verification process. Recent reports say the revised deadline is now August 23, 2026.
The verification is intended to ensure that LPG connections are properly authenticated and that eligible consumers continue receiving domestic LPG services and applicable benefits.
Why Is LPG e-KYC Important?
The e-KYC process links and verifies the consumer's identity with the LPG connection.
Oil companies are using Aadhaar-based verification, including facial authentication, to confirm customer details. Consumers who have not completed the required verification have been advised to do so within the revised timeline.
You Can Complete e-KYC From Your Phone
One of the easiest options is to complete the process online.
Depending on your LPG provider, the process can generally involve:
- Open the official LPG company's mobile application.
- Log in using your registered mobile number.
- Look for the e-KYC/KYC option.
- Enter or confirm the required Aadhaar details.
- Complete the Aadhaar-based face authentication.
- Submit the verification and wait for confirmation.
The exact steps can vary between LPG companies.
Aadhaar Face Authentication May Be Required
For online verification, users may need an Aadhaar-compatible facial authentication application along with the LPG company's app.
The process uses the phone's camera to verify the customer's identity.
Make sure you download applications only from the official app stores and use the official LPG provider's website or application. Avoid links received through suspicious SMS or WhatsApp messages.
What If You Haven't Completed It Yet?
If you missed the earlier deadline, recent reports indicate that the deadline has been extended to August 23.
Consumers who are still unable to complete online verification can also check with their LPG distributor about completing the process through an authorised representative or at the agency.
Don't Share Your OTP With Anyone
While completing e-KYC, be particularly careful about fraud.
Never share:
- Aadhaar OTP
- Bank OTP
- UPI PIN
- ATM PIN
- Credit or debit card details
- Passwords
An LPG company representative should not need your UPI PIN or banking password to complete KYC.
What Happens After e-KYC?
Once verification is successfully completed, your LPG customer record can be authenticated.
If you are unsure whether your e-KYC has already been completed, check your LPG provider's official app or website, or contact your distributor before repeating the process.
LPG Consumers Should Check Their Status
With the revised deadline approaching, domestic LPG users should check their KYC status rather than waiting until the last day.
The government's broader LPG programme continues to have a large consumer base. The official PMUY portal reports more than 105 million connections under the scheme as of August 2026.
For consumers, the safest approach is simple: verify your e-KYC status through your LPG company's official channel and complete the process if it is still pending.
