When Khamenei was alive, the US hoped for a compromise. A coup was expected, but now the situation has worsened. With Khamenei gone, everything has become more complicated. It's not easy for the US to even figure out who is in charge and who isn't.
The US may be touting the assassination of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei as a success, but the death of Iran's Supreme Leader has further increased tensions in the Middle East. The assassination of 86-year-old Khamenei has made it more difficult for the US to achieve what it wanted from the agreement. Furthermore, Khamenei's assassination has further complicated the possibility of a coup in Iran. Let's understand the reasons and how in detail in this story:
First understand Iran's military strength
Iran may not possess nuclear weapons, but it does possess a missile arsenal. It possesses approximately 1,200 long-range missiles. Iran has a total of 3,000 missiles. Furthermore, Iran possesses the world's most lethal Shahed drone. According to Asia Live, Iran possesses approximately 80,000 Shahed drones.
According to Global Firepower, Iran has 600,000 ground troops. The notorious Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has 150,000 troops. Additionally, Iran has provided military training to approximately 10 million people under the name Basit Force, all of whom are monitored by the IRGC.

How America got into trouble, 4 facts
1. Succession Plan - Iran was aware that its Supreme Leader could be killed in this attack. To this end, it devised the "4-plus" formula. Under this formula, four successors were designated for each person in office. This means that four successors to Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei have already been identified. Among them is Iran's hardline leader, Ali Larijani.
According to Iranian-American analyst Iman Jalali, until now, it was clear who was in power. Now, everything is unclear. Who is making the decisions and who is not? Iran has not yet announced a new Supreme Leader. Therefore, the entire game plan will be developed behind the scenes. This is not good for the US.
Iman Jalali further states, "All those considered to be Iran's successors after Khamenei are more radical than the 86-year-old leader. It will not be easy for the US to subdue them."

2. A coup is now difficult - Changing the government in Iran is not easy for the US. To effect a change, the US will have to deploy on the ground. According to Axios, the US President wants Iranians to take to the streets, but after Khamenei's death, the angry public is also staying away from the streets.
According to The Telegraph, even if the US could kill all of Iran's top leaders through airstrikes, it would still need to deploy its troops on the ground to gain control of power. If the US wants control of Iran, it would need to deploy at least one million troops on the ground.
This is a very difficult decision. If the US lands its troops on Iranian soil, it could suffer significant losses. According to a JL poll, the American public is currently unprepared for this. The American public does not want to lose its soldiers under any circumstances. More than 50 percent of those surveyed said they would not tolerate the death of more than 10 soldiers.
3. Strengthened by sympathy - The Iranian public was dissatisfied with the government, but there was a strong craze for Khamenei. The 86-year-old Khamenei continued to meet with ordinary citizens until his death. Khamenei's death has now given the Islamic Republic a tool for sympathy. This will further strengthen its position in Iran.
According to strategic affairs expert Adam Kochner, by killing the aging Khamenei, the US has turned him into a religious martyr. Now, its supporters will capitalize on this throughout Iran. His successors will now be able to advance their radical agenda in the name of Khamenei.
4. Doom for American allies: The US, in collaboration with Israel, has carried out an operation to assassinate Khamenei. This will now harm US allies in the Middle East who are on Iran's radar. Iran is attempting to wreak havoc in Middle Eastern countries like the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and Jordan.
In a statement, Ali Larijani, Secretary of Iran's Supreme Security Council, said, "The US has attacked Iran's heart. We will also attack its heart." Larijani was referring to Saudi Arabia. Indeed, Saudi Arabia is often considered the heart of American strategy in the Middle East.
The Secretary General of the US National Security Council said on the assassination of Khamenei - Trump has fallen into the Israeli trap and now his priority has become Israel and not America.
