Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has postponed the launch of the Range Rover Electric. Earlier this car was to be launched in late 2025 but now it will be introduced in 2026. The company informed its 62,000 waitlisted customers, of which 400 customers are from India.

Let us tell you that Range Rover Electric is JLR's first ground-up EV built on Modular Longitudinal Architecture. It has a 118 kWh battery. Which generates 542 bhp and 850 Nm of torque. Its estimated price in India is more than Rs 3 crore.

The company's electric vehicles will be affected

According to a report, this delay may also affect JLR's other electric vehicles. The electric Range Rover Velar, scheduled for production in April 2026, may be postponed further. At the same time, the production of the electric Defender is to start in early 2027.

In addition, two electric vehicle (EV) models that are part of Jaguar's rebranding could also now face delays of several months. The first model, a £1,00,000 electric GT based on the Type 00 concept, will now be ready for production in August 2026. At the same time, production of the second model is expected to begin in December 2027.

JLR's decision comes amid several challenges, including a 15.1% drop in sales in the quarter ending June 2025, due to US tariffs imposed by the Trump administration. Due to which US exports were temporarily halted. At the same time, the company has also launched a voluntary layoff plan for 500 British managers to reduce costs.

Sales expected to improve

However, sales are expected to improve after the implementation of a limited trade deal between the US and the UK, which will provide a 10 percent lower tariff on the first 1,00,000 exports. Tata Motors-owned JLR has been profitable for 10 consecutive quarters.

JLR spokesperson gave information

A JLR spokesperson emphasised the company's commitment to quality, saying, "By 2030, JLR will sell electric versions of all its luxury brands. Our plans are flexible to market demands, and ensure the highest standards of design, efficiency and quality."

The Range Rover Electric has been undergoing rigorous testing to meet these standards, with JLR describing it as the most intensive testing programme for any Range Rover model.
