Government Blocks Gambling Websites: The government has taken major action to address the growing malpractices in online gaming. Nearly 300 websites and apps related to illegal gambling and betting have been blocked. This step was taken to prevent violations of online gaming regulations.
The government has now further tightened its crackdown on illegal online gambling and betting platforms. Citing government sources, ANI reported that approximately 300 websites and mobile apps have been blocked. These platforms have long been involved in illegal activities, such as online sports betting, casino-like games, and peer-to-peer betting systems. The government is now closely monitoring them and taking strict action against such platforms.
Government takes major action against illegal betting platforms
According to a government statement, the crackdown targeted a variety of illegal platforms, including online sports betting websites, virtual casinos (where games like slots, roulette, and live dealers are played), and peer-to-peer betting exchanges. Furthermore, authorities have also cracked down on traditional gambling networks like satta and matka, as well as apps that allow real-money card and casino games.
Actually, this entire action is part of the government's big campaign, which aims to curb illegal online gaming and protect people from the danger of financial fraud and addiction.
More than 8,000 such websites and apps have been banned.
According to government data, nearly 8,400 such websites and apps have been blocked so far. Of these, approximately 4,900 platforms were specifically shut down after the Online Gaming Act came into effect, which further strengthened the law to curb online gaming and betting.
The government's action isn't going to stop here. Such sites and apps will continue to be closely monitored, and those violating the rules will face immediate action. Users have also been urged to remain vigilant and stay away from any unauthorized betting or gambling platforms. It's worth noting that in January of this year, the government took a major step and blocked links to 242 illegal betting and gambling websites.
