Electric Vehicle Sales Increased: According to the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA), electric passenger vehicle sales have registered a staggering 93% jump in July this year as compared to July last year.
Electric Vehicle Sales Increased: According to the retail sales data of July 2025, the era of (EV) in the country is not just about to come, but has already arrived. The number of electric passenger vehicles running on the road is increasing continuously and the trend of consumers is rapidly shifting from petrol and diesel to EV. According to the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA), a staggering 93% jump has been registered in the sales of electric passenger vehicles in July this year as compared to July last year. These figures are giving a big indication not only for the auto industry but also for the future of green mobility.
Tata Motors made the highest sales
According to FADA data, a total of 15,528 electric passenger vehicles were registered in July, while the figure was 8,037 in the same month last year. Tata Motors dominated this segment, selling 6,047 units in July. This is 19% more than the 5,100 units sold in July last year.
Sales of electric two-wheelers decreased
Although the passenger EV segment performed record-breaking, the electric two-wheeler market witnessed a slight decline this time. Total sales of this category stood at 1,02,973 units in July 2025, down by about 4% as compared to 1,07,655 units in July last year. Despite this, TVS Motor Company maintained its hold in this segment and managed to register a year-on-year growth of 13% with sales of 22,256 units.
Tremendous growth seen in the commercial segment
The electric three-wheeler market recorded a 9% year-on-year growth in July 2025, with a total of 69,146 units registered. The segment was dominated by the Mahindra Group, which recorded a massive 40% jump over the previous year with sales of 9,766 units.
Similarly, the electric commercial vehicle category also witnessed a 52% year-on-year growth, with 1,244 units registered in July. Here too, Tata Motors maintained its dominance and topped the segment with sales of 333 units.
What did the President of FADA say?
FADA President CS Vigneshwar said, This momentum shows that India's EV transition has moved beyond early users to now reach the mainstream consumer and fleet market. He said that continued policy support, easy financing, and rapid expansion of charging infrastructure will play an important role in sustaining this growth in the upcoming festive season and in the future.
