In a bizarre and shocking incident in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, two thieves disguised as Kanwariyas (devotees who participate in the Kanwar Yatra) stole two boxes of curd from outside a dairy. The daring theft, executed early in the morning, was captured on a CCTV camera installed right outside the shop.

Incident Details

The theft took place outside Narula Dairy, located in Nawabganj, under the jurisdiction of Nagar Kotwali police station. On Sunday morning, before the dairy opened, a delivery vehicle dropped off four boxes of curd outside the shop. However, between 5 and 6 AM, two men arrived on a motorcycle adorned with a saffron flag, both dressed like Kanwariyas.

One of them stayed on the bike while the other quickly grabbed two curd boxes and fled the scene with his partner. What they didn’t realize was that their entire act was being recorded on CCTV.

Suspicion Arises

Later, when the dairy owner arrived and found only two boxes instead of four, he immediately contacted the supplier. Upon learning that four boxes were indeed delivered, he reviewed the CCTV footage and discovered the theft.

Police Investigation Underway

The dairy operator lodged a formal complaint with the police and submitted the CCTV footage as evidence. Police officials confirmed that they have launched a manhunt for the accused using the video as the key lead. The unusual method of disguise has sparked both public anger and concern, especially during a time when many Kanwariyas are on religious pilgrimages.
