A dramatic incident from Bihar has sparked widespread discussion on social media after a 60-year-old woman was allegedly caught by her family while attempting to leave with her 35-year-old partner. The incident took place in Banka district, and a video related to the episode has since gone viral.
How the relationship began
According to media reports, the woman became acquainted with the man—identified as a 35-year-old lawyer from the Ara region—around four months ago following a phone call that was reportedly made by mistake. Regular conversations followed, which eventually developed into a relationship.
The two later met at Bhagalpur railway station and reportedly travelled to Ludhiana together, where they claim to have married by mutual consent. They are said to have lived together for a short period before deciding to return to Bihar.
Caught at bus stand, situation turns tense
On Sunday, while the couple was attempting to leave Bihar again, they were stopped at the Amarpur bus stand, where the woman’s husband and son confronted them. The situation quickly escalated, attracting a large crowd.
In the viral video, the woman can be seen crying and holding the man, stating that she married him willingly and of her own choice. Reports suggest that the man was allegedly assaulted by the woman’s husband during the confrontation, while her son also opposed the relationship.
Police intervention and investigation
Following the disturbance, local residents intervened and escorted the couple to Amarpur Police Station for their safety. Police officials confirmed that the couple was kept under protection due to the tense circumstances and that an investigation is underway to examine both family-related and legal aspects of the case.
Social media reaction
The video was first shared by an X (formerly Twitter) handle named “Rudraki Awaaz” and has since received widespread attention. Reactions online have been mixed—while many expressed shock at the incident, others condemned the alleged assault and called for respect for personal choice and safety.
