WhatsApp Web users are in for a treat! You can now make voice and video calls from your computer, ditching your mobile phone

WhatsApp Web Calling Feature: This is a big relief for WhatsApp users. The company has now launched voice and video calling on WhatsApp Web. Currently, this feature is available to a limited number of users. It will be rolled out to everyone in the next week or two. This feature will be especially useful for those who work on desktop and the web all day long.

Whatsapp Web Calling Feature: If till now you had to repeatedly look at your smartphone for voice or video calls while working in the office, then now you are going to get relief from this. Instant messaging app WhatsApp has released a big update for its crores of desktop and web users. After this new update, you will now be able to make voice and video calls to your friends and family directly through WhatsApp Web. This means that now you will not need to pick up the phone again and again for chatting as well as calling during work. Till now this feature was available only on WhatsApp's mobile app and desktop app (Windows/Mac).

What's changed with WhatsApp Web?
According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp now supports voice and video calls directly on WhatsApp Web. With this new update, WhatsApp Web isn't limited to just messaging, sharing photos and videos, and transferring files. You can also make calls through it. With the new update, you'll see call buttons on WhatsApp Web as well, allowing you to initiate voice or video calls directly from your browser.

Now 'face-to-face' calls will be possible on the big screen.
The biggest benefit of getting call support on WhatsApp Web will be for those people who work for hours on laptop or desktop. After this, people will now get the option of making voice or video calls on the computer screen itself. As soon as a call comes, a pop-up window will open on your computer screen, from where you can pick up or reject the call. Now, by using the laptop's big webcam and good headphones, the quality of video and voice calls will be better than ever before. Now, for small group calls or quick updates, you will no longer need any heavy video conferencing apps.

How will this new feature work?
WhatsApp has kept this feature very simple. When you open WhatsApp Web on your computer, you'll see video and voice call icons at the top of the chat window. The first time you make a call, your browser will ask for permission to use your microphone and camera. Once you grant permission, your call will begin. During a video call, you can minimize or maximize the window as needed.

WhatsApp claims that calls
made on the web will be just as secure as those made on mobile. Since your calls are end-to-end encrypted, no third party other than you and the other person will be able to hear or see them.

What else could be added?
It's being reported that the company may add more features to WhatsApp Web in the future. Such as screen sharing during video calls, allowing you to show your screen to the other person. This will significantly simplify both your online work and studies.

When will all users get the feature?
This feature will be rolled out gradually to users. Some people are seeing it first and the rest of the users will get it in the coming days. As soon as the feature is activated, the call option will appear as soon as WhatsApp is opened in the browser. In the initial phase, WhatsApp has released this feature for 'one-to-one' calling. So, currently only one person can be called from the web at a time. The group calling feature will be rolled out gradually to all users in the coming few weeks.
