UIDAI Extends Free Aadhaar Update Deadline Till 2027, New Aadhaar App to Launch Soon

Unique Identification Authority of India has announced a major relief for Aadhaar card holders by extending the deadline for free Aadhaar document updates on the myAadhaar portal. According to the latest update, users can now update their Aadhaar-related documents online free of cost until June 14, 2027.

The authority stated that the deadline extension was introduced after receiving a strong response from users updating their Aadhaar details online. Along with this announcement, UIDAI has also revealed that the current mAadhaar app will soon be discontinued and replaced with a new Aadhaar application offering improved features and privacy controls.

Free Aadhaar Update Facility Extended Until 2027

Earlier, Aadhaar users had to pay a fee for updating certain documents online. However, UIDAI has now extended the free online document update facility for another year.

New Free Update Period

  • Start Date: June 15, 2026
  • Last Date: June 14, 2027

During this period, Aadhaar holders can update identity and address-related documents online without paying any fee through the myAadhaar portal.

UIDAI clarified that the free update facility is available only on the online portal and not necessarily at physical Aadhaar centers.

Why UIDAI Wants Users to Update Aadhaar

UIDAI has advised people who created Aadhaar many years ago and have not updated their records recently to complete the document update process.

Updating Aadhaar helps ensure that:

  • Identity details remain accurate
  • Address information stays current
  • Aadhaar database quality improves
  • Authentication services function smoothly

The authority says keeping Aadhaar records updated improves overall service reliability for users.

New Aadhaar App to Replace mAadhaar

UIDAI has also announced plans to launch a new Aadhaar mobile application soon.

According to the authority, the upcoming app will offer several upgraded features designed to improve security, privacy, and convenience for users.

Features Expected in the New Aadhaar App

  • Secure Aadhaar sharing through QR codes
  • Better privacy controls
  • Easier access to Aadhaar services
  • Improved user interface
  • Simplified verification process

UIDAI mentioned on social media platform X that the current mAadhaar app will eventually be phased out after the launch of the upgraded version.

  • Income tax filing
  • Passport services
  • Subsidy transfers

Because Aadhaar is linked with multiple public and private services, maintaining updated records has become increasingly important for users.

UIDAI Focuses on Digital Convenience and Security

The latest deadline extension and app upgrade plans reflect UIDAI’s increasing focus on:

  • Digital accessibility
  • User convenience
  • Data accuracy
  • Privacy protection

As more government services shift online, Aadhaar-related digital verification systems are expected to become even more widely used across India.

For Aadhaar holders who have not updated their documents in recent years, the extended free update window provides an opportunity to complete the process without additional charges.
