Three New Judges Join Delhi High Court, Bringing Total Strength to 44

The Delhi High Court has added three new judges to its bench — Justices Dinesh Mehta, Avneesh Jhingan, and Chandrasekaran Sudha — who were sworn in on Tuesday. Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyay administered the oath of office to the newly appointed judges. With their induction, the total number of judges in the Delhi High Court has now reached 44.

The appointments come after the Supreme Court Collegium’s recommendations, following which the central government issued a notification on October 14 approving their transfers. Justices Mehta and Jhingan were transferred from the Rajasthan High Court, while Justice Sudha previously served in the Kerala High Court.

This development follows a similar round of appointments earlier this year when six judges — Justices V. Kameswar Rao, Nitin Vasudev Sambre, Vivek Chaudhary, Om Prakash Shukla, Anil Kshetrapal, and Arun Kumar Monga — took oath after being transferred from various high courts. Interestingly, Justice Monga, who originally belonged to the Punjab and Haryana High Court, has now been transferred again, this time to the Rajasthan High Court.
