WhatsApp has added a noise cancellation feature for Android users. This feature has been long awaited. Users will benefit from it during WhatsApp audio and video calls. Let's learn what the noise cancellation feature is.

A long-awaited new feature has been added to the instant messaging app. It's called voice cancellation, which prevents ambient noise from reaching the caller during a call. This feature is currently available in beta, according to Wabetainfo.

WhatsApp aims to improve the calling experience with this feature. Along with Android smartphones , this feature will also be available on WhatsApp Web. The company launched voice and video calling features for WhatsApp Web last month.

WhatsApp has been working on improving the calling experience for a long time. This feature isn't limited to WhatsApp Web; it also works on the Android app.

According to the report, a new feature called built-in noise cancellation has been spotted in the WhatsApp beta Android 2.26.11.8 update available on the Play Store.

How noise cancellation works in WhatsApp

The report also shared screenshots of what the noise cancellation feature will look like. The screenshots show that during a call, users will need to scroll up to find the noise cancellation feature, which will require a toggle to be turned on.

Noise cancellation isn't available on the Android platform, but it is available on devices running the iOS platform. When a WhatsApp call comes in on an iPhone, iPad, or other devices, the noise cancellation feature is automatically enabled.

What is noise cancellation?

Noise cancellation, a feature found in many true wireless stereos and smartphones, works by isolating surrounding traffic noise, wind noise, and crowd noise to ensure your voice reaches the other end of the call.

This feature will be a game changer for WhatsApp

The effectiveness of WhatsApp's voice cancellation feature will only be known in the coming days. Currently, this feature is in the testing phase and is available to select individuals. It will be rolled out to the stable version in the coming days.
