Tere Naam Re-Release Box Office: Salman Khan’s Cult Classic Outperforms Mardaani 3 After 23 Years

When Salman Khan’s film Tere Naam was released in 2003, it emerged as a major box office success and left a lasting impact on audiences. Salman Khan’s portrayal of Radhe Bhaiya became one of the most memorable characters of his career. More than two decades later, the film has returned to cinemas and is once again drawing strong footfall. Re-released in PVR-INOX theatres on February 27, the film has delivered an impressive performance, even surpassing Mardaani 3 at the box office.

According to Sacnilk, Mardaani 3, starring Rani Mukerji, earned ₹20 lakh on February 27, followed by ₹25 lakh each on February 28 and March 1, bringing its three-day total to ₹70 lakh. In comparison, Tere Naam showed stronger momentum despite being a re-release. As per reports from Pinkvilla, the film collected ₹23 lakh on its first day, ₹25 lakh on the second day, and ₹27 lakh on March 1, outperforming Mardaani 3 on both the opening and closing days of the three-day period.

Overall, Tere Naam earned approximately ₹75 lakh during its first three days after re-release, placing it ahead of Mardaani 3 during the same timeframe. Directed by Satish Kaushik, the film stars Bhumika Chawla opposite Salman Khan in the role of Nirjara. The cast also includes Ravi Kishan, Sarfaraz Khan, and Sachin Khedekar.

At the time of its original release in 2003, Tere Naam was made on a reported budget of ₹12 crore and went on to collect around ₹24.55 crore worldwide. Although its re-release earnings are modest compared to modern blockbusters, the film’s ability to outperform a newer theatrical release highlights its enduring popularity and cult status among audiences even after 23 years.
