If you're troubled by the slow speed of the IRCTC app when booking Tatkal tickets, there's good news for you. Indian Railways is revamping its Ticket Booking System (PRS). With this new change, the railway system will be able to book 1.25 lakh tickets per minute. This new system will transform the entire online ticket booking experience.
Currently, the railway system can only book 25,000 tickets per minute. The new system will increase ticket booking speed fivefold. This information was provided by the Railway Ministry's technical wing on the 41st anniversary of CRIS. According to officials, this will make ticket booking easier during the festive season.
What will be the benefit out of this
The biggest benefit of this new system will be for ordinary passengers. Tatkal ticket bookings at 10 and 11 a.m. each day put a heavy load on the server, often causing the app to hang or forcing users to log out. The Railways believes the new system will handle this heavy load with ease, allowing passengers to secure tickets without any hassle.
Four decades of digital travel
CRIS has been working towards the digitization of railways for the past 40 years. The organization has built several major digital platforms for the railways, including ticketing systems for general passengers and operations systems for freight trains. Over time, all these systems are being further modernized and made more secure.
Super App 'RailOne' and focus on AI
Railways is now working on its new super app 'RailOne' and Artificial Intelligence (AI). CRIS Managing Director G. V. L. Satya Kumar said that the RailOne app is getting a good response. Now with the help of AI, better services will be provided to the passengers as per their preferences. Cyber security is also being strengthened. This new upgrade will also stop the illegal software of ticket brokers. This system will easily handle the huge crowds during festivals. This new system will be fully operational in the coming months. After this, the general public will get permanent relief from the hassle of online ticket booking.
