Son Kills Father for Insurance Money
In Pothaturpettai, Tamil Nadu, a horrifying case has come to light. Two sons reportedly murdered their 56-year-old father, E.P. Ganesan, by arranging a venomous snake bite to claim life insurance money. Initially, his death was considered an accident, but suspicion from the insurance company revealed the planned murder.
Ganesan, who worked as a lab assistant at a government school in Thiruvallur district, was found dead at his home in October. Though his death appeared to be due to a snake bite, investigators later found it to be deliberate.
Murder Plot Driven by ₹3 Crore Insurance
At first, the police and locals treated the death as an unfortunate snakebite incident. However, the story took a turn when the sons filed a claim for ₹3 crore in life insurance. The insurance company grew suspicious of the beneficiaries’ behavior and urged the police to reopen the investigation.
Two Attempts Using Snakes
The police investigation uncovered shocking details. Both sons had taken out a life insurance policy on their father and planned his murder to claim the payout. They first tried to kill him with a venomous cobra a week prior, but Ganesan survived. Undeterred, they arranged an even more deadly krait snake, which bit their father on the neck while he was asleep, resulting in his death.
Cover-Up and Arrests
To hide evidence, the accused killed the snake inside the house, making it look like a natural snakebite. They also deliberately delayed taking Ganesan to the hospital, ensuring that no critical evidence remained. Police cracked the case and arrested six people, including the two sons and others who supplied the venomous snakes and helped stage the murder as an accident.
