In Lucknow, a 20-year-old girl has accused a Muslim youth named Rashid of forcing her to convert to Islam after luring her through a love relationship. The girl says Rashid initially won her trust by reciting Hindu religious hymns like Hanuman Chalisa and Shiv Chalisa, which made her believe in his sincerity. However, later he pressured her to embrace Islam through threats and promises of a better life abroad. A case has been registered at Chinhat police station, and the police are investigating.
According to the girl, Rashid, who lives in a nearby village, claimed to be a follower of both Hinduism and Islam. To gain her confidence, he would recite Hanuman and Shiv Chalisa in her presence, making her feel that he genuinely loved her.
But after some time, Rashid’s true intentions emerged. He began forcing her to convert to Islam. When she resisted, he tempted her with offers of money and a life abroad, mentioning relatives in Saudi Arabia and Bangladesh. When she still refused, Rashid allegedly threatened to spread doctored photos of her and harm her family. He reportedly stopped her in public to record videos and once tried to intimidate her by throwing a bouquet of flowers. The constant pressure led the girl to have repeated suicidal thoughts.
Eventually, the girl confided in her elder mother, who informed the family. They then filed a complaint against Rashid at the Chinhat police station. Police have registered a case under serious sections and are investigating the matter thoroughly. It has also come to light that some of Rashid’s relatives have connections in Saudi Arabia and Bangladesh, which the police are examining as part of the investigation.
