Bollywood actor Rani Mukerji, who is currently in the spotlight for her upcoming film Mardaani 3, has shared insights into her personal skincare and haircare regimen, revealing that she relies on a simple, traditional ingredient rather than expensive cosmetic treatments.
At 47, the actor continues to be admired for her youthful appearance, glowing skin and thick, lustrous hair. In a recent interview with a private television channel, Mukerji said that coconut oil plays a central role in her daily routine. Contrary to popular belief that celebrities depend heavily on advanced dermatological procedures, she emphasised her preference for natural methods.
Mukerji said she regularly uses coconut oil not only for her skin and hair but also in cooking, describing it as a “magic regimen” that suits her lifestyle. She added that she avoids excessive use of chemical-based products and instead trusts this traditional ingredient for long-term care.
However, the actor also cautioned that skincare is not universal. She noted that skin type and climate play a significant role in determining what works for an individual. Having grown up in Juhu, a coastal area of Mumbai, Mukerji said coconut oil suited her skin particularly well, adding that it may not deliver the same results for everyone.
According to studies, including research published in the Journal of Traditional and Complementary Medicine in 2018, coconut oil contains anti-inflammatory properties that help soothe skin irritation and provide deep moisturisation, especially for dry skin. In hair care, it is known to act as a natural conditioner, improving texture, reducing dryness and adding shine. Nutrients such as lauric acid help nourish hair roots, combat dandruff and reduce breakage.
