One of the most anticipated sequels in Indian cinema, Pushpa 3, has once again grabbed headlines amid reports suggesting that Bollywood superstar Salman Khan may appear as a villain opposite Allu Arjun in the film.
Following the massive success of Pushpa: The Rule (released in December 2024), which reportedly grossed around ₹1,871 crore worldwide, expectations from the third installment have skyrocketed. Although Pushpa 3 is still some time away from release, recent reports indicate that pre-production work has already begun. According to industry sources, an office has been rented to initiate early-stage planning, including story discussions. However, director Sukumar and Allu Arjun are currently busy with other commitments.
The biggest buzz surrounds Salman Khan’s possible entry into the Pushpa universe. Reports claim that the makers are considering introducing a powerful new antagonist in Pushpa 3, and Salman Khan’s name has surfaced for the role. It is being speculated that he could portray a wealthy mastermind and business tycoon, a negative character reportedly named “Sultan”—a nod to his 2016 Bollywood film of the same name.
Industry chatter suggests two possibilities: one, that discussions are underway between Salman Khan and Mythri Movie Makers for a separate collaboration; and two, that his character could be introduced in Pushpa 3 as a cameo, eventually leading to a standalone film within the Pushpa cinematic universe.
However, reports also indicate that Salman Khan’s role, if it happens, will be brief. The cameo is expected to test audience response, after which the makers may consider expanding the character into a full-length spin-off. It is worth noting that Salman Khan has traditionally avoided negative roles, adding further uncertainty to these claims.
As of now, there has been no official confirmation from the film’s makers or from Salman Khan himself. With Pushpa 3 reportedly not expected before 2028, fans will have to wait for an official announcement to know whether this high-profile casting rumor turns into reality.
