Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a day-long visit to Gujarat, where he is unveiling a series of major development projects valued at more than ₹34,200 crore. The visit began with a grand roadshow in Bhavnagar, where crowds lined both sides of the streets chanting "Modi, Modi" as the Prime Minister greeted them on his way from Bhavnagar Airport to Jawahar Ground.
At Jawahar Ground, PM Modi will address a massive public rally and participate in the ‘Samudra Se Samriddhi’ programme, which focuses on strengthening India’s maritime sector and promoting self-reliance.
Earlier today, the Prime Minister shared his thoughts on X, writing:
"September 20th is an important day for India’s maritime sector and our quest towards self-reliance. In Bhavnagar, I will participate in the ‘Samudra Se Samriddhi’ programme where projects worth over ₹34,200 crore will either be inaugurated or their foundation stones laid. These will benefit people across India and highlight our focus on shipping and port-related policies."
Visit to National Maritime Heritage Complex
Later in the day, PM Modi will visit the National Maritime Heritage Complex (NMHC) at Lothal in Ahmedabad district, a project being developed at a cost of about ₹4,500 crore. The complex aims to showcase India’s ancient maritime traditions and will serve as a hub for tourism, research, education, and skill development.
Other Key Engagements
The Prime Minister is also scheduled to chair a review meeting at 1:30 pm and conduct an aerial survey of Dholera, a region being developed as a futuristic industrial city under the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor project.
Bhavnagar has been decked up with large posters and banners to welcome the Prime Minister as he continues his engagements in the state.
