World's eyes on PM Modi's visit amid US tariffs
PM Narendra Modi is visiting China at a time when India-US relations are strained due to the 50% tariff imposed by US President Donald Trump. Trump has imposed an additional 25% tariff on India for buying crude oil from Russia. During his visit to China, Narendra Modi will meet Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin. The world is watching this.
PM Modi, who was on a visit to Japan a day earlier, had said, "There is instability in the world economy at this time. In view of this, it is important for India and China, as two major economies, to work together to bring stability to the world economic system."
PM Modi said that "stable, predictable and cordial bilateral relations" between India and China can have a positive impact on regional and global peace and prosperity.
