The process for obtaining a PAN card in the country is about to undergo a major change. After March 31st, citizens will no longer be able to obtain a PAN card using Aadhaar card alone. New rules will come into effect on April 1st. This will require submitting a document proving the date of birth when applying for a PAN card.
This information about PAN cards was posted by CSCeGov on the social media platform X. According to the post, old application forms for PAN cards will no longer be accepted starting April 1st. Therefore, those who have not yet obtained a PAN card can complete the process using only their Aadhaar card if they apply before March 31st.
Currently, it's easier to apply for a PAN card using Aadhaar card via e-KYC. This process doesn't require applicants to upload a separate photo or signature. However, this rule will change starting April 1st. Official proof of date of birth will be required when applying.
Starting April 1, documents such as a birth certificate, voter ID card, 10th-grade result or certificate, driving license, magistrate affidavit, or passport will be required when applying for a PAN card. This will eliminate the facility of using only an Aadhaar card for PAN.
Citizens have a golden opportunity to obtain a PAN card until March 31st. If you apply during this time, you can easily obtain one using just your Aadhaar card. Therefore, those interested in obtaining a PAN card are urged to apply as soon as possible.
To apply for a PAN card online, you need to visit the official NSDL website and select the 'Apply Online' option. After that, you need to select Form 49A and fill in the required personal information. The application process is complete after Aadhaar OTP verification and fee payment.
Since the process of getting a PAN card will become more stringent after the new rules come into effect, it will be beneficial for citizens to apply on time.
