Pakistan's ISI Using Nepal Route for Espionage in India, Spy Network Busted

Despite repeated exposures and global scrutiny, Pakistan continues its covert operations against India. The latest revelation uncovers a troubling new front—Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI is now conducting espionage in India using Nepali citizens and cross-border networks.

Nepalese Agent Working for ISI Arrested in Delhi

In a major breakthrough in February 2025, Delhi Police’s Special Cell arrested Ansarul Mian Ansari, a Nepalese national involved in spying for ISI since 2008. Acting on a tip-off, authorities intercepted him in Gopalpur village near Outer Ring Road, Delhi, after he entered India from Nepal via Gorakhpur.

The police recovered a laptop, printer, and multiple confidential documents, including a 1982 Army training pamphlet titled "Fighting in Built Up Areas". According to investigators, these documents were meant to be sent to Pakistan.

Communication With Pakistani Handlers Uncovered

Ansari confessed to being in direct contact with a Pakistani handler named Yasir through WhatsApp calls and messages. During the arrest, Ansari had already destroyed a CD containing highly sensitive information by breaking it and flushing it down after sensing danger.

Investigators have also recovered WhatsApp chat records and suspicious international numbers, including those from Pakistan and the UK (+447512691434, +9230403083917), from his phone.

More Operatives in India, Jharkhand Link Emerges

The probe has revealed that Ansari was not working alone. One of his key associates in India has been identified as Akhlaq Azam from Jharkhand. Investigations are ongoing to trace others involved in this network.

Military Intelligence Confirms Espionage Threat

The matter has been escalated to Military Intelligence, which has validated the threat. Officials say ISI is using non-traditional methods and foreign nationals to gather intelligence on India’s defense infrastructure, training protocols, and deployment strategies.

A Growing Cross-Border Threat

This incident exposes a growing security challenge—ISI’s increasing reliance on Nepal as a corridor for espionage activities. Indian intelligence agencies are now closely monitoring similar cross-border movements and reinforcing coordination with Nepalese counterparts.

Security experts warn that this is part of a larger, strategic conspiracy by Pakistan to compromise India’s national security using covert, third-party operatives who are harder to trace.
