Old Pension Scheme Benefit for 65 PCS Officers in This State – Government Issues Order

In a significant move, the Uttar Pradesh government has granted the benefit of the old pension scheme to 65 PCS officers in the state. These officers, who joined the government service after the implementation of the new pension system, were able to avail of the old pension due to the recruitment advertisement being issued before March 28, 2005.

Background:

The new pension system (NPS) came into effect from April 1, 2005, replacing the old pension system that provided a defined benefit. However, there were exceptions for certain officers whose recruitment advertisement had been released prior to this cut-off date but who had joined after the NPS implementation. The Central Government issued a directive allowing states to extend the benefit of the old pension to these officers, and the Uttar Pradesh government decided to implement this order, setting the cut-off date for eligibility as March 28, 2005.

Officers Who Will Benefit:

A total of 65 PCS officers have been granted the benefit of the old pension system. Some of these officers include:

  • Archana Ojha

  • Anjulata

  • Devendra Singh

  • Manoj Kumar Saroj

  • Vandita Srivastava

  • Dayanand Prasad

  • Shailendra Chaudhary

  • Devendra Pratap

  • Reshma Sahay

  • Anurag Singh

  • Priyanka Chaudhary

  • Amit Kumar

  • Rajesh Kumar Singh

  • Vineet Mishra

  • Naveen Prasad

  • Himanshu Gautam

  • Balram Singh

  • Santosh Kumar Ojha

  • Arvind Kumar III

This decision is a major relief for these officers, as it ensures they receive the benefits of the old pension scheme, which offers a guaranteed monthly pension after retirement, unlike the defined-contribution nature of the NPS.
