New Toyota Innova HyCross Facelift 2026: Fresh Design, Bigger Touchscreen and E85 Hybrid Technology Expected

Toyota is reportedly preparing to introduce a facelifted version of the Innova HyCross in India, bringing potential updates to its exterior design, cabin technology and powertrain options. Since its launch in late 2022, the MPV has attracted buyers looking for a spacious family vehicle with the convenience of a strong-hybrid powertrain.

According to reports, the updated Innova HyCross could launch on November 26, 2026. However, Toyota has not officially confirmed the launch date, specifications or pricing. The facelift is expected to focus on improving the existing model rather than introducing an entirely new generation.

1. New Front Design and Updated Exterior Styling

The upcoming Innova HyCross facelift could receive its most noticeable changes at the front. Test vehicles spotted on Indian roads have reportedly been seen under heavy camouflage, suggesting that Toyota is testing updates to the exterior.

The expected changes include a wider front grille, redesigned full-LED headlamps and updated turn indicators. The grille could take inspiration from the styling of other Toyota models, including the Hilux.

The MPV may also receive newly designed alloy wheels, potentially measuring up to 18 inches on selected variants. However, the overall body shape and proportions are expected to remain similar to those of the current model.

These changes could give the Innova HyCross a fresher appearance while retaining the spacious design that appeals to families.

2. Bigger Touchscreen and Improved Cabin Technology

The interior could receive a significant technology upgrade. The existing Innova HyCross offers a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The facelifted version is expected to feature a larger 12.3-inch touchscreen, although the final display size has not been confirmed by Toyota.

The strong-hybrid variant could also receive a 12.3-inch digital instrument display, providing information about the hybrid system, fuel efficiency and driving conditions. Petrol variants may continue with a different instrument-cluster configuration.

Toyota could also improve connected-car functions and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), depending on the variant. Such updates would help make the MPV more convenient for everyday driving and long-distance journeys.

3. Existing Petrol and Strong-Hybrid Engines May Continue

The new Innova HyCross is expected to retain its existing 2.0-litre petrol and strong-hybrid powertrain options.

The current model's engine specifications are as follows:

  • 2.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine producing approximately 171 bhp and 204 Nm of torque.

  • Petrol engine paired with a CVT automatic transmission in the conventional petrol version.

  • Strong-hybrid system combining a petrol engine with an electric motor and an e-CVT transmission.

  • Combined system output of approximately 181 bhp for the strong-hybrid version.

The existing strong-hybrid model has an ARAI-certified fuel-efficiency figure of up to 23.24 kmpl, depending on the applicable variant and specification.

If these powertrains continue unchanged, buyers can expect the facelift to focus primarily on styling, technology and equipment rather than a major mechanical overhaul.

4. Could an E85 Flex-Fuel Hybrid Version Be Introduced?

One of the most interesting possibilities surrounding the facelift is the introduction of E85 flex-fuel technology.

E85 fuel is a blend containing up to 85% ethanol and the remainder petrol. A vehicle designed for this fuel requires a compatible engine and fuel system; an ordinary petrol vehicle cannot automatically use E85 safely.

Toyota has explored flex-fuel technology in prototype vehicles, and reports suggest that the company could consider offering this technology in the Innova HyCross.

If introduced, an E85-compatible version could provide another option for reducing dependence on conventional petrol. However, Toyota has not confirmed whether the facelift will receive an E85 powertrain, whether it would be combined with the strong-hybrid system, or whether it would be offered as a separate variant.

Fuel availability will also be an important consideration. Buyers would need access to compatible E85 fuel and should not assume that it is available at every petrol pump.

5. Expected Price of the Toyota Innova HyCross Facelift

The facelifted Innova HyCross is expected to be priced between ₹20 lakh and ₹33 lakh, ex-showroom, according to reports. The final price will depend on the variant, powertrain and equipment offered.

If Toyota introduces a larger touchscreen, additional safety features and new powertrain technology, selected variants could become more expensive than their current counterparts.

The company has not yet announced the official price list, booking schedule or variant-wise specifications.

Should You Wait for the New Innova HyCross?

The upcoming facelift could be worth waiting for if you want a spacious family MPV with updated styling, improved infotainment technology and the fuel efficiency of a strong-hybrid system.

However, the reported E85 flex-fuel option remains unconfirmed. Buyers should also compare the final price, fuel availability, equipment and warranty conditions before making a decision.

For now, the new Toyota Innova HyCross facelift remains an anticipated update rather than an officially detailed launch. Toyota's final announcement will clarify which of these expected changes will actually reach the Indian market.
