As November begins, important updates related to everyday life for the common man have emerged. Citizens are required to be informed about pensioners' life certificates, income tax return filing deadlines, LPG cylinder prices, interest rates on bank FDs, and the proposed CNAP facility for mobile calling. Additionally, some changes to the GST process are expected to be implemented in phases. However, not all of these changes will be implemented on the same date. Therefore, it's important to check the official status of each update.
Life Certificates Required for Pensioners
Central and state government pensioners must submit a life certificate by November 30, 2026. Pensioners aged 80 years and above can complete this process from October 1, while for other pensioners; the facility will begin on November 1. This certificate can be submitted in person or digitally at a bank.
ITR deadline extended for audited taxpayers
Eligible taxpayers who are audited for the financial year 2025-26 and assessment year 2026-27 have been given a deadline of November 21, 2026, to file their income tax returns. Previously, this deadline was October 31. However, this deadline does not apply to all taxpayers. Therefore, taxpayers should check the deadline for their category.
The Department of Telecommunications has directed companies to implement the CNAP (Calling Name Presentation) feature from November 1st. This feature will allow the caller's name and unknown number to be displayed on
4G and later networks. Initially, this feature will not be applicable to 2G, 3G, or landlines.
Pay attention to LPG and FD rates.
Oil companies review LPG cylinder prices on the first of every month. Therefore, consumers will be paying attention to whether there are any changes in domestic and commercial gas prices on November 1st. However, it's impossible to say anything with certainty until an official announcement regarding a rate increase or decrease is made. Additionally, some banks have revised interest rates on fixed deposits for certain tenures. Investors should watch for further changes in November.
Changes to the GST process
are also being implemented in phases, such as simplifying GST registration, helping small e-commerce sellers, and speeding up the refund process. Some changes are expected to take effect on November 1st, while provisions requiring changes to the law are expected to come into effect on April 1st, 2027.
