After the death of a Hindu woman in Bhilwara, Rajasthan, a Muslim youth carried her bier. Then he performed the last rites by lighting the pyre as per Hindu rituals. Now he will also immerse the ashes. The youth said- Even my mother did not love me as much as maasi maa did. Actually, this woman was the neighbor of this Muslim youth. But there was a mother-son relationship between the two.
You must have heard that Hindus and Muslims are brothers. But have you ever heard that on the death of a Hindu mother, her Muslim 'son' lit the pyre? Yes, such a heart-wrenching scene was seen in Bhilwara, Rajasthan. Here, when a 67-year-old Hindu woman died, a 42-year-old Muslim youth lit her pyre. According to Hindu customs, he will now go to Treveni and immerse her ashes.
People are praising this unique relationship between mother and son. They are saying that such a thing is rarely seen. This young man has fulfilled the duty of a real son. Actually, 42-year-old Asgar Ali has a small shop in Jangi Mohalla of Maniyari. 67-year-old Shanti Devi lived in his neighbourhood.
Asgar Ali said- Shanti Devi and her husband used to set up small shops in fairs. My parents also used to do the same work. Our families knew each other for 30 years. It never felt like we were family friends. We always lived together like a family. After her husband's death, in 2010, Shanti Devi came to live in our neighborhood with her son. Both of our families were living on rent in Salim Qureshi's house. My family lived on the first floor and Shanti Devi on the ground floor.
She stood by my mother like a sister
Ali said- Then in 2017 my father died. Even then she did not leave my mother alone. She stood by her like a sister. I also used to call Shanti Devi as maasi maa. Then in 2018 a wild animal attacked Shanti Devi's son, in which he died. Since then Shanti Devi started spending time with us. We lived like a family. She loved me like a mother. My mother passed away two years ago. But Shanti Maa never let me feel alone. She used to worry about me all the time. She used to take care of everything from food to everything. Perhaps even my own mother never took care of me as much as Shanti Maa did.
'May I get such a mother in every birth'
Crying, Asghar said- In winters, Shanti Maa used to heat the water for my bath. She used to wash clothes. When I returned from work, she used to say lovingly- My son is here. Even my wife would not have taken as much care of my food and drink as Maasi Maa did. In her honour, I stopped cooking and eating non-veg in my house. We used to celebrate Eid and Deepawali together happily. Shanti Maa was ill for some time. Now when she died, I also performed her last rites as per Hindu rituals.
Shanti Devi's ashes will be immersed in Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj or Matrikundiya in Chittorgarh as per her wish. I will immerse her ashes myself. Everything is over for me. I am now abandoned and completely alone without my mother. I cannot tell my sorrow to anyone. I pray that I get such a mother in every birth.
