A heart-wrenching case of suicide has emerged from the Govindnagar area of Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, where an 18-year-old Class 12 student ended her life under suspicious circumstances. The incident occurred on Saturday night, sending shockwaves through the locality.

The girl, daughter of a local grocery store owner, was found hanging in her room when her mother went to call her for dinner. Upon seeing her daughter, the mother raised an alarm, and the police were immediately informed. Officers from the Govindnagar police station reached the spot around 10 PM and began a preliminary investigation.

Message Written on Palm Raises Questions

During the investigation, police discovered something unusual. On the left palm of the deceased was a sad emoji drawn with ink, along with the message: “Gulshan, I miss you…” This emotional detail added a new layer to the case, prompting the police to dig deeper.

Though the family was initially unwilling to conduct a postmortem, the authorities found the situation suspicious and proceeded with the necessary legal formalities, including a forensic examination.

Accusations Against a Young Man Named Gulshan

When questioned, the girl’s family revealed that a youth named Gulshan had been harassing their daughter for the past three months. Just hours before the tragedy, Gulshan reportedly came to the girl's home with his friends. According to the family, he threw a box of vermilion onto the roof and demanded the girl marry him.

He also allegedly threatened to harm her father and brother if she refused. After creating the disturbance, Gulshan left. The girl went to her room, and shortly after, she was found dead.

Police Investigation Underway

The police are investigating the matter and have taken the family’s statements seriously. A case is expected to be registered against Gulshan based on the allegations. Meanwhile, the incident has left the local community in shock and mourning.
