As Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar continues to generate buzz for its gripping storyline, action sequences, and star-studded cast, attention has now shifted to a key figure behind the camera—cinematographer Vikas Naulakha. Director Aditya Dhar has publicly credited him as the “real magician behind the frame,” highlighting his crucial role in shaping the film’s visual identity.
In a recent social media post, Dhar described Naulakha as the “soul” of the film, emphasizing that every frame appears alive because of his work. Interestingly, Naulakha joined the project just days before shooting began, yet his contribution proved transformative. According to Dhar, he was not merely responsible for filming scenes but for defining the film’s entire visual tone and enhancing its realism and intensity.
A Vision Years in the Making
Vikas Naulakha, known for his gritty and realistic cinematographic style, has been part of the industry for decades. Reflecting on his connection with Dhurandhar, Dhar revealed that upon reading the script, Naulakha remarked, “I’ve waited 30 years to make a film like this; I’d give my life for it.” This passion is evident in the film’s striking visuals, which have been widely praised by both audiences and critics.
Filming Under Challenging Conditions
Despite joining late, Naulakha managed to deliver exceptional work under demanding circumstances. Large portions of the film were shot in difficult locations and within tight timelines. However, Dhar noted that there was no compromise on quality. Beyond operating the camera, Naulakha played a significant role in visually interpreting the narrative, offering creative inputs that elevated several key sequences.
An Experienced Name in the Industry
Naulakha’s filmography includes notable projects such as Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year, Laapataa Ladies, and Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva. His work on Dhurandhar further cements his reputation as a cinematographer capable of bringing depth and realism to complex stories.
