Anurag Borkar, 19, from Navagaon in Chandrapur, who had scored 99.99 percentile in NEET, did not want to become a doctor and committed suicide by hanging himself before MBBS admission.
Anurag Anil Borkar, 19, from Navagaon, Chandrapur, Maharashtra… 99.99 percentile in NEET, 1475th rank in the OBC category, the pride of the village and the hope of the family. Admission to MBBS was confirmed. But behind that promising facade, an untold truth lurked. Anurag didn't want to become a doctor. The tug-of-war between that desire and compulsion forced him to choose death. On the day he was to leave for admission to Gorakhpur Medical College, he hanged himself in his home. Amid the books lying nearby, a timetable on the wall, and dreams, was a suicide note, which simply read, "I don't want to become a doctor." The police have not released the suicide note, but locals are confirming it.
Ended life before admission
According to reports, Anurag, a student from Maharashtra, was about to be admitted to a medical college in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. However, he committed suicide before that time.
The burden of success and unfulfilled desires
While Anurag's success gave wings to the hopes of his family and society, it also robbed him of his own flight. Perhaps he couldn't express himself openly in the face of his family or society's wishes. It's ironic that the child who, at 19, yearned for the freedom to choose his career, passed away. The walls of his room, the piles of books, and his NEET success today beg the question. Was it a victory, or the burden of helplessness?
Mourning in the village, family in shock
The news of Anurag's death sent a wave of grief through Navargaon. Those who had seen him engrossed in his books and praised his hard work are now stunned. His parents' eyes are filled with tears, and the villagers are at a loss to understand why such a promising child had given up.
